Mario Botta’s style is noticeable by a remarkable pragmatism and the creation of a strong and geometric architectural space, often covered with bricks or stone. Pure volumes buildings pierced by large cracks.

First works with his signatures are some single-family houses located in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland and then his work has embraced the path of different building types: schools, banks, office buildings, libraries, museums and religious buildings. Incontestable list of public buildings, gone in the world, bear Mario Botta’s signature.

Numerous international awards confirm the intensive work of Mario Botta: among these deserves a special remembrance European Prize for Culture awarded in 1995, Merit Award for Excellence in Design from AIA in 1996 due for project of the MOMA in San Francisco and Legion of Honor of the French Republic in 1999.
